ANNISTON, Ala. –
Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Anniston, Alabama, installed new vertical lift modules – a modernization effort that maximizes available cubic space, and enhances the support DDAA can provide to the Anniston Army Depot.
The installation of VLMs was part of a multi-year effort in conjunction with the U.S. Army.
“These modules eliminate a lot of walking time for employees,” Alexander Dinh, DLA Distribution Installation Management said. “They allow employees to remain in one spot while the machines do the task of retrieving bins.”
The use of VLMs is not new within DLA Distribution, but these are the first such modules installed at DDAA.
Currently DLA Distribution typically uses VLMs for small item pick and stow operations. The modules automate and increase the efficiency of small tasks, saving time on man hours overall.
