Renovation of Disposition Services warehouse on Ft. Bragg begins

By Jason Shamberger DLA Disposition Services

DLA Disposition Services’ Ft. Bragg facility in North Carolina is preparing to undergo a series of renovations.

Work has just begun on a new project that will see site improvements to both safety and performance aspects of its’ warehouse facility.

Upcoming warehouse improvements include demolishing the existing lights and making way for a new rack system. The inability to replace parts on the old system and an increase in safety are the reasons for installing an entirely new system.

“Safety is always important,” said DLA Installation Management’s Pardeep Kumar. “The previous racks can sometimes create safety hazards. The new rack system will not completely eliminate accidents but it will reduce accidents tremendously.”

Aside from the safety improvements taking place, the construction team also is installing a new forklift charging station.

Not everything within the warehouse requires new construction as multiple aspects of the warehouse will undergo repair and cosmetic facelifts.

Not just Disposition Services’ employees will notice the improvements from this project but customers as well.

“The operational efficiencies it will generate, especially in terms of physical space and flow, will benefit our customers in a myriad of ways,” said DLA Disposition Services Area Manager Terry Harrington. “We can expect that output, timeliness and asset availability will be greatly enhanced. The return on investment will be tremendous.”

Over the course of this project disposed property may be re-directed to other sites until full operational capability is restored within the Ft. Bragg warehouse facility. Customers will still receive the same support from their disposition service representatives.

Customers will not notice any impact to service or offerings. Internally, over the course of the project, disposed property may be re-directed to other sites until full operational capability is restored within the Ft. Bragg warehouse facility. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers expects a project completion date of March 2022.
