FORT BELVOIR, Va. –
Employees now have through June 30 to support charities serving and affected by the war in Ukraine and the resulting humanitarian and refugee crisis through a temporary reopening of the Combined Federal Campaign.
Donors can contribute to thousands of charities, many of which are working overtime to assist refugees needing food, clean water, medical care, shelter and more. One hundred percent of the donations will go to charities, and employees may donate even if they didn’t participate in the campaign that ended in January.
“Through the annual Combined Federal Campaign, members of the federal family demonstrate that our commitment to public service extends far beyond the workplace, OPM Director Kiran Ahuja said. “In this moment of need, our efforts should focus on assisting the people of Ukraine.”
President Joe Biden ordered federal assistance in March to help ease the burden on those impacted by the war. Ahuja authorized the special solicitation period because many local, national, and international human welfare organizations in the CFC are supplementing efforts to provide critical services.
DLA employees in the national capital region donated almost $276,000 toward a $300,000 goal during the 2021 campaign season. Federal employees have collectively raised over $8.5 billion for CFC since it began in 1961.
Donations supporting Ukraine can be made to one or more of the organizations included in the 2021 CFC Charity List at the CFC online portal.
