BATTLE CREEK, Mich. –
Senior leaders of Disposition Services in Battle Creek, Michigan, field tested a Warehouse Management System component.
WMS is a method to streamline storage and distribution warehousing functions across the agency.
“We’re getting a new system that will manage our warehouse and the software is state of the art,” said Nick Bristow, Disposition Services WMS deputy program manager. “It’s aligned with industry, it’s auditable and in the end will allow us to be able to execute warehouse tasks quicker and easier.”
According to Bristow, this upgrade in technology includes modernizing operations processes and simplifying tasks allowing Disposition Services to maintain industry standards throughout its warehouse facilities.
“This is the capability we’ve been looking for over the last six or seven years,” DLA Disposition Services Director Mike Cannon said. “This is way easier and it’s much more intuitive [than previous systems]. Another benefit is that customers also get immediate relief of accountability so they’re happy and our DSRs are far more productive.”
WMS continues its design and testing process this year. Rollout begins in 2023 and 2024 is Disposition Services’ target date to complete the migration to using solely WMS at all locations.
