Scholarships available for students of current, former DLA employees

By DLA Public Affairs

The Defense Logistics Agency Foundation is offering scholarships to students with a close family connection to a current or former DLA employee.

Scholarship applications will be accepted Feb. 27 through April 27 at 11:59 Eastern Standard Time and awards will be announced in June.

Up to 30 $1,500 scholarships will be awarded, as well as one $2,000 scholarship in honor of Frank Lotts for an applicant pursuing a degree in science, technology, engineering or math. Lotts was a former DLA senior executive service member who died in November 2007.

Applicants must be a U.S. citizen and the child, stepchild, grandchild, niece or nephew of a current or former DLA military or civilian employee. They must also be high school seniors or college students with a minimum 3.0 GPA who will attend an undergraduate or trade/technical school as a full-time student with at least 12 semester hours in academic year 2023-2024. Appointees to military service academies are not eligible.

Applications will be judged mainly on merit and financial need. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid Report will be used to determine financial need, and the maximum expected family contribution that will be considered is 15,000.

Detailed information and application forms are available at https://dla-foundation.org/scholarship-application-guide/.

DLA Foundation scholarships are made possible through fundraising activities except for the Lotts scholarship, which is donor-funded. The foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization not affiliated with the Defense Department.
