BATTLE CREEK, Mich. –
The Defense Logistics Agency’s Army LTC Vincent Felix is saying goodbye after serving as the Director of Disposition Services Central Region for the previous seven months.
While serving as the Central director, Felix helped the region accomplish several milestones including the realization of a 10-acre site expansion at Al Udeid, Qatar.
“It does greatly benefit the site by going from a three or four acre site to a ten acre site,” said Felix. “One of the main benefits of the size increase is it gives more area to do our demilitarization work and gives us the ability to take on additional equipment – and process more scrap to support the CENTCOM area of responsibility.”
During the last seven months Felix has worked alongside a diverse group of individuals as part of his Central team.
“It’s a very unique challenge because it’s a joint environment,” said Felix. “It was a unique command position, being a joint organization with military deployers, DOD civilians and contractors.”
Whether performing scrap removal through mobile missions or carrying out DEMIL, the Central team steadily supports the warfighter on a daily basis – and they have been able to do so while maintaining a safe environment for their work force.
“The need to provide the Warfighter with reverse logistics support is still immense,” Felix explained. “We are doing a lot of productivity with regards to scrap and DEMIL. One of the things I’m most proud of is there were no injuries or accidents since I’ve been here in the last seven months.”
Lt. Col. Felix’s Army career dates back to 1985 and as this tour comes to an end so does his military career as he approaches a June retirement. Stepping into the position of Disposition Services Director of Central Region is David Flietstra – coming from the Hart-Dole-Inouye Federal Center in Battle Creek, Michigan.
