NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. –
Defense Logistics Agency Distribution continues with the roll out of its new Warehouse Management System at DLA Distribution Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania, during a go-live event April 21.
In a signed letter to the workforce, DLA Distribution Commander, Navy Rear Adm. Grafton D. Chase and DLA Distribution Deputy Commander, Perry Knight, lauded the DDTP team for their hard work and effort in getting WMS up and running at the site.
“Considering the important mission DDTP and the other 23 DLA Distribution Centers provide to the Warfighter and our federal partners, DLA created a goal to modernize by simplifying processes that reduce cost while improving performance and support to our customers. WMS is just one critical element in our goods-to-person strategy that leverages the latest industrial automation while incorporating wireless and mobile technologies with industry standards and audit ready processes that are inherent in our new WMS. Collectively, these elements will provide a more efficient and productive network and save the Agency more than $20 million dollars.”
The WMS efforts today will reap benefits for years to come. Warfighters and whole of government partners will benefit as this system will allow DLA Distribution to become better, faster and more efficient. WMS benefits not only our warfighting customers, it benefits the DDTP workforce, as well as the DLA Enterprise as it will allow employees to do their our jobs more efficiently, safer and easier.
