Name: Eric Terrell Brown Sr.
Organization: DLA Aviation at Ogden Support Center Pacific at Kadena Air Force Base, Japan
Years of service: 6 months
What is your job title and what do you do specifically? As a supply technician, I perform detailed inspections on incoming shipments to guarantee the correct material and quantities are delivered to DLA Aviation at Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa, Japan. I also pull orders from inventory generated by maintenance units and work centers requesting parts for repair.
How do you support the warfighter? I support the warfighter with my own personal commitment to DLA as an employee by recognizing that my efforts deliver readiness and expedited support to troops and organizations worldwide.
What aspect(s) of your current job gives you the most personal satisfaction? Why? As a Navy veteran, by working for DLA, I get to continue my support to the warfighter. And I find it very satisfying knowing that I have completed my job with zero errors while learning more about the organization.
If you could speak directly to the warfighters you support, what would you tell them? I would tell the warfighters to have faith in the support we are providing to them, and for them to know they are just as important to us as we are to them! They are our extended family, and we will continue to work hard to deliver support no matter where they are.
What are your best practices for achieving goals or accomplishing tasks? I approach projects or tasks that have been assigned to me by creating a plan of action. It is also important for me to be conscious and not create bad habits that could impede my work or the progress of my professional growth.
Professionally, where do you see yourself five years from now? In five years, I see myself working at DLA Aviation as a material support technician or promoted to a customer support technician. The customer support technician is a demanding, challenging, and rewarding position involving detailed research. I would continue supporting the customer directly but would also be helping the workforce in correcting issues that create material delays or stoppages.
What are some of your passions outside of work? I really enjoy studying foreign languages, traveling, and reading a good book.
If you could pick a personal motto, what would it be and why? I stand by the quote by David Goggins, “The most important conversations you’ll ever have are the ones you’ll have with yourself.” This statement speaks for itself because you need be able to condition your mind and protect your heart from bad influences.
