RICHMOND, Va. –
Defense Logistics Agency Aviation’s April Employees of the Month are Chad Davis and Karen Beck are problem solvers and maintain the momentum on DLA Aviation’s commitment to the warfighter.
Employee of the month is awarded to DLA Aviation non-supervisory civilian employees. Two recipients are selected based on individual general schedule pay levels – one from GS 1-9 (Category 1) and one from GS 10-13 (Category 2). Recipients receive a coin, a certificate of achievement and a cash award.
Davis is a material support technician at DLA Aviation at Oklahoma City on Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma. He was selected as the Category 1 award winner for his work in the engine controls / fuel components shop service center.
When this SCC was facing a personnel shortage, Davis volunteered to help provide support. During his management of the material, Davis maintained 100% inventory accuracy of more than 900 backordered parts belonging to maintenance kits.
Jason Ham, supervisory distribution facility specialist within DLA Aviation at Oklahoma City, said “Because of Davis’s selflessness and willingness to step up, the Air Force production lines were able to continue their overhaul of components uninterrupted.”
Beck is a resolution specialist within DLA Aviation at Cherry Point on Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina. She was selected as the Category 2 award winner for her insightful actions solving a financial discrepancy that would’ve stopped repair work on a Marine H-1 Viper helicopter.
“This was an urgent situation,” says Terri Philyaw, material support engines supervisor within DLA Aviation at Cherry Point. “Beck’s deliberate action enabled repairs of the H-1 to continue uninterrupted. Her willingness to think outside the box provided quality, timely, and cost-effective support to our customer.”
