PHILADELPHIA –
Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Commander Army Col. Landis Maddox held his first workforce town hall on July 27, 2023, in Philadelphia.
Maddox, who took command of Troop Support on June 15, 2023, shared his professional and personal history and leadership philosophy with the crowd. “I've been on the warfighting end of DLA my whole life,” said Maddox. “Most of my career has been in the tactical unit in the brigade combat team. So, I understand what the DLA Troop Support brings to the table—and I want to say thank you.”
Maddox began by introducing himself and his family.
“I’m a dual-military couple,” Maddox said. “My wife, Army Col. Yolanda Maddox, serves on the Army Review Board which is in Crystal City, Virginia. We have two kids.”
After introducing his family, Maddox continued to explain that he prefers face-to-face correspondence.
“I’m going to shake your hand, ask you how you are doing and how your family is doing—it’s just how I am and how I like to communicate,” said Maddox. “I will treat everyone with dignity and respect.”
Maddox envisions DLA Troop Support as a people-first organization while also valuing accountability.
“I believe that we are a people-first organization, everything else will take care of itself,” Maddox said. “We have to hold ourselves accountable and I think if we are communicating there’s room for some honest mistakes.”
Maddox closed with the following:
“I’m going to be my authentic self—I'm going to come talk to you,” Maddox said. “It's about people and communication—as long as you keep the lines of communication open, there's no doubt in my mind that we're going to continue to be successful.”
