The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support celebrated the careers of two civilian employees during a retirement ceremony July 27.

Ceremony officiant, DLA Troop Support Commander Army Col. Landis Maddox thanked the retirees and their family members for their combined half-century of service to the country.

“Your time here has made an enormous difference and a huge impact to DLA Troop Support,” Maddox said. “Not only to the accomplishment of the mission, but to the people you have mentored, coached, trained and supported along the way.”

Joyce Wilson retired from the Business Process Support office after 34 years of service with DLA Troop Support. Prior to her civil service, Wilson had a career in the Army going on multiple deployments before retiring as a sergeant major in 2013.

Wilson said she had many people to thank for her career.

“I want to thank my family, I want to thank all the warfighters, and all my teammates who have supported them and the civilians in the field.”

Sharon Mcintosh-Mason began her career in 2006 with DLA Troop Support’s intern program. She retires from the Clothing and Textile supply chain, where she worked for 17 years. In 2016, she was selected as the Federal Woman’s Program, non-supervisory Woman of the Year.

She said the friends she has made during her career will stick with her into her retirement.

“I have made great friends and they will always be with me,” she said. “I want to just thank everyone for your support. Thank you.”

Maddox said the two retirees were great examples of the dedication, pride and expertise that can be found throughout the organizations employees.

“You both serve as models and represent the ideals and values of our workforce and our organization,” he said. “I want to once again thank you for all your valued service to DLA Troop Support, the Department of Defense and our nation.

Each employee received a certificate of retirement, a DLA Troop Support memento, and a commander’s coin. In addition, spouses received certificates of appreciation, respectively.
