Established in 1979, this unassuming site operates with a staff of just two dedicated individuals, Mischelle O’Neal lead production operations specialist and Jackie Brown, electronic duplicating system technician.

O’Neal said while they are a small shop, they pack a punch when it comes to their role in producing critical documents and materials for the Executive Office.

Open for business from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, DLA EPS offers a myriad of services. From printing and binding to crafting badges, posters, certificates, proclamations, executive orders, reports, banners, pamphlets, and even the mounting of photos and displays, this facility does it all. You name it, If we have the machines and the capability to do it, we do it, O’Neal said.

DLA EPS primarily serves the Executive Office of the President and its supporting agencies, such as the Office of Management and Budget, United States Trade Representative, Office of National Drug Control Policy, Office of Science and Technology Policy, National Security Council, and more.

O’Neal said that among their most notable creations are the State of the Union addresses, congressional reports, and the mounting of historical photos adorning the West Wing. The work produced here often finds its way onto television screens, posters, and official documents, making DLA EPS an unsung hero in the realm of government communication.

The site has contributed to various critical moments in history, including producing printing and signage for COVID-19 response efforts. Additionally, they've created banners for past Presidents' displays and played a vital role in setting up displays for significant events, O’Neal said.

In terms of fiscal statistics, post-COVID, DLA EPS has maintained an impressive annual average of $150,000, handling over 130 jobs per month.

Unique to DLA EPS is its unwavering focus on supporting the Oval Office and the Executive Office of the President with on-site, quick-response printing and informational needs. Their motto? "We strive for excellence in customer service, excellence in work, and a cohesive, collaborative team."

While their location in the basement of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building presents its own set of challenges, such as limited space and quick turnarounds, it's this very adversity that fosters ingenuity and knowledge, enabling them to operate every piece of equipment efficiently.

As they look to the future O’Neal said they are committed to maintaining the high standard of excellence and continuing to meet the ever-evolving needs of their customers.

Beyond their day-to-day duties, what truly sets DLA EPS apart is the unique opportunity their team experiences daily – being a part of history. Working in one of Washington D.C.'s most awe-inspiring buildings, O’Neal said they are constantly surrounded by rich history, including the Indian Treaty Room and two libraries filled with remarkable artwork.

O’Neal said that every day is challenging, invigorating, and purposeful, and it is not for the faint of heart. Mediocrity is not an option. Every day they must rise to the occasion and meet the needs of our customers. It's not 'can I' but 'how can I'.
