San Joaquin’s Paredes awarded for outstanding customer service

By Annette Silva DLA Distribution Public Affairs

Lead Information, Ticketing and Registration Recreation Specialist Cynthia (Cindy) Paredes assigned to Defense Logistics Agency Installation Management at San Joaquin received the 2023 Morale, Welfare and Recreation Facility and Program Excellence Individual award for Outstanding Customer Service.

Paredes’ high level of customer service has put the San Joaquin ITR establishment at the forefront resulting in a dramatic increase of sales and patronage in fiscal year 2023. With strict accountability in the areas of ticket sales and store inventory, and within the Outdoor Recreation program and services, her efforts have led to an increase in attraction and destination ticket sales as well as store sales of over $1.5 million, with over a 17% increase from the previous year’s record breaking numbers in the lifetime of the program.

Her high standards of service and customer focused approach has created a positive experience for all ITR patrons resulting in customers referred by repeat customers. Under her program management, online tickets sales have increased and cut the overall ticket purchasing time, proving to be more convenient to the customer.

A key area of her program is communications both through email and social media making customers aware to ticket prices, merchandise and specials. Further, she performs her job in addition to taking on the travel clerk position saving over $60,000 in annual labor costs.

A highlight of her performance was being individually recognized by the Disney Business Relations Manager during March. The ITR store sold 489 tickets totaling $85,779.84, which was 10th overall in Disneyland Resort ticket sales out of 126 Military Ticket Program/NAVY affiliated installations.

Her supervisor David Sturman, Business and Recreation chief, holds her in high regard. “Since coming over to the ITR program from the Child Development Center in 2021, Mrs. Paredes has had great success within the ITR program, especially within the destination and attraction tickets sales,” said Sturman. “She truly has a love for what she is doing and the customers she is serving every day.”

Paredes will be honored at the DLA 56th Annual Employee Recognition Program taking place in January of 2024 at the McNamara Auditorium, Ft. Belvoir, Virginia.
