Combined Federal Campaign kicks off in Battle Creek

By Robin Rogers DLA Disposition Services Public Affairs

The Combined Federal Campaign kickoff event was held on Oct. 3 in Battle Creek, Michigan, as employees gathered in the Palm Garden Room at the Hart-Dole-Inouye Federal Center to learn how to make charitable donations.

The 2023 campaign theme is “Give Happy” which encourages employees to willingly donate to charities that they care about.

“Going along with the theme ‘Give Happy’ this year, they say giving happiness helps you receive happiness,” DLA employee and CFC Keyworker Paul Ganem said.

The CFC is one of the oldest fundraising campaigns in the world.  The effort began in 1961, the same founding year of the Defense Logistics Agency.  Since its inception, federal employees have donated more than 8.6 billion dollars.  This year’s annual donation goal for DLA is $23,340, which is a 10% increase from the amount raised in 2022.

Benefits of giving through the CFC include the ease of payroll deduction, the ability to give to multiple causes at once, and being able to make a collective impact.

There are thousands of vetted charities to choose from and there are four ways for employees to donate:

  • Online: www.GiveCFC.org
  • Paper Pledge: Submit the form to your keyworker
  • Text “DONATE” to 978-487-5678
  • Donate via the CFC Giving App

One-time and year-round donations are accepted. In addition, employees can pledge to donate volunteer hours in lieu of funds to help at many non-profit organizations and local charities.

Through the Combined Federal Campaign, DLA employees can change the world one donation at a time said HDIFC CFC Campaign Manager Bill Jerome.
