First quarter DLA Energy employees of the quarter

Defense Logistics Agency Energy Commander Navy Capt. Brian Anderson announced Energy’s first quarter, fiscal year 2024 military, civilian and strategic goals employees of the quarter. These members will go on to compete across the entire agency in the DLA Quarterly Military and Employee Recognition Program.

“Thank you for your commitment to the mission and the warfighters,” Anderson said. “Your meticulous financial stewardship, excellent customer service and innovative problem solving are what make DLA Energy a world-class global team.”

Company Grade Officer Category:

Army Capt. Joseph Keliihananui is the operations officer for DLA Energy Indo-Pacific. He earned the award for his role spanning across Indo-Pacific including five sub-Energy regions and his role coordinating with USINDOPACOM J431 Joint Petroleum Office.

Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Category

Army Sgt. 1st Class Adrian Moreno is the Operations NCO for DLA Energy Americas West. He earned the award for his role ensuring adherence to security protocols during the annual Secure Device User and COMSEC inspection. His readiness included the spearheading a successful NWSSB Assessment Preparation Exercise, testing responses to simulated security threats.

Category B Civilian (GS/WG/WL 7-12):

Ron Bock is a quality assurance representative and contracting officer representative for Defense Fuel Support Point North Pole for DLA Energy Americas North. He earned the award for his judicious work investigating and correcting several quality issues at Fort Greely, Fort Wainwright and DFSP North Pole during the quarter. 

Category C Civilian (GS13-15/WS):

John Reed is part of the DLA Energy Indo-Pacific International Agreements team. He earned the award for his role spearheading the first-ever DLA Energy Indo-Pacific Fuels Exchange Agreements Forum in November 2023.

DLA Director's Strategic Goals Award Category:

Individual Award:

Jaime J. Sanchez is a quality assurance representative for DLA Energy Americas West. He earned the award for volunteering to deploy from home station in Colorado to the Republic of Korea during the holiday season from November 17, 2023 to January 19, 2024, to assist the DLA Energy Korea Quality Division. Having 10 years of military and civilian experience in Korea, he was able to seamlessly assist with critical, ongoing 8lightering operations to support Okinawa.

Team Award:

DLA Energy Okinawa Pipeline Support team earned the award for their efforts conducting post-recovery Typhoon operations including the discovery and proper resolution of two 3-meter sections of exposed cross-island pipeline after a significant landslide had eroded the soil. The pipes were not damaged, but the soil played a role in stabilization, protection, and spill isolation of the pipes. The team immediately engaged with the stakeholders to stabilize the site and prevent the risk of a fuel spill.
