TOBYHANNA, Pa –
Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania, leadership held a cookout in appreciation of the organization’s employees’ efforts and celebrated the Army’s birthday June 13.
Over 175 employees attended the Employee Appreciation “Burger Burn” cookout that also commemorated the one-year anniversary of DLA Distribution Tobyhanna’s transition from the Distribution Standard System to the Warehouse Management System. WMS is a commercial, off the shelf software that streamlines processes, increases productivity, improves operations, provides better customer support and enhances audit readiness.
“Our team of teams here at DLA Distribution Tobyhanna understands the importance of how we enable readiness for the warfighters,” said Army Lt. Col. Allen Luna, commander, DLA Distribution Tobyhanna. “This is evident every day with the diligence in how we receipt, store and issue material.”
In addition to the cookout, leadership also hosted a cake cutting ceremony to commemorate the 249th Army Birthday. Luna was joined by Mark Williams from retail, and Lloyd Peters from wholesale, in the time-honored tradition of cutting the birthday cake to signify the passing of tradition from one generation of Soldiers to the next.
The ceremony marked 249 years of celebrating the Army’s rich history and served as a call for each employee to maximize their fullest potential and exemplify the Army’s call to action, “be all you can be.”
