When the nation calls Terrance Taylor, Chanita Darville answer

DLA Land and Maritime Public Affairs

A video series showcasing Defense Logistics Agency team members from across the agency recently featured two of DLA Land and Maritime’s employees: Terrance Taylor and Chanita Darville.

“When the Nation Calls, DLA Answers,” spearheaded by DLA Video Producer Nutan Chada, highlights DLA team members who embrace the idea of "Warfighter Always" and who provide logistics support whenever and wherever it is needed.

Taylor, a retired Navy chief, takes pride in serving as the face of DLA for ships stationed along the east coast. As a DLA Land and Maritime customer support representative at Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia, he said the best part of his job is the mission.

“Our message [to the warfighters] is to view DLA or the DLA representatives as an extension of your ship,” he said. “If you feel any type of way about freedom, these are the guys that are providing that freedom for you and it’s our job to make sure they have everything they need to perform that mission worldwide.”

Darville, a Navy veteran, serves as a DLA Land and Maritime customer logistics site specialist at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Virginia. She understands how critical it is for DLA to efficiently provide the shipyard with the material and services needed to accomplish its mission.

“I was a Sailor out there needing those parts and maintenance to be completed, and now I’m on the supporting side,” she said. “It feels good to give back.”
