DLA Distribution Susquehanna welcomes new Senior Enlisted Advisor

By Ed Shank, DLA Distribution Public Affairs

In a small ceremony held in the lobby of DLA Distribution Center Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, the organization hosted a change of responsibility ceremony Dec. 6 that welcomed Army 1st Sgt. Rayon Cunningham and bid farewell to Army 1st Sgt. Gabriel Hamilton.

In his remarks, Navy Capt. Andrew Henwood, commanding officer, DLA Distribution Susquehanna, Pennsylvania,  called Hamilton a trusted advisor on who he could count on to provide unvarnished truth when needed.

“During my first few months, I found 1st Sgt. Hamilton to be an incredibly valuable asset,” said Henwood. “He's done an admirable job of keeping his finger on the pulse of organization and providing great insight.”

Cunningham, who was promoted from master sergeant to first sergeant during the ceremony, said he is grateful for the opportunity to help lead the organization during a time of growth and technological advancement.

“I am honored and humbled to have been selected for this important role,” said Cunningham. “I am looking forward to advocating on behalf of the hardworking men and women of DDSP and doing my part to improve the culture of this great organization. I wish 1st Sgt. Hamilton and his family all the best as they enter civilian life.

Cunningham, who arrived at DLA Distribution Susquehanna, Pennsylvania from Stuttgart, Germany in March 2023, has had plenty of time to not only get to know the organization, but develop a good reputation among those who work there, including his new boss.

“Thankfully, 1st Sgt. Cunningham has been onboard for a while now and is familiar with how we operate,” said Henwood. “I know he will carry that forward and do wonders for our organization.”
