Troop Support celebrates the careers of four civilian retirees

By Christian Deluca DLA Troop Support Public Affairs

The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support held a retirement ceremony to honor the federal service of four civilian employees Jan. 30.

Anna Marie Meagher, John P. Patkus, David N. Olson and Catherine A. Olson retired, after a combined 93 years of service, in a room full of family, friends and co-workers.

DLA Troop Support Deputy Commander Kishayra J. Lambert, who presided over the ceremony, said the retirees have left an indelible impression on the organization.

“It is always an honor for me to have the opportunity to celebrate those employees who have given so much of themselves to the mission of this organization and to our warfighters serving around the world,” Lambert said. “You have all committed your working life to the support of our warfighters and whole of government partners. Your years of service have made you a part of the rich history and exceptional reputation of DLA Troop Support and its legacy organizations.”

During the ceremony each retiree was presented with a certificate of retirement, a DLA retirement memento, a pin of appreciation, and a coin and star note on behalf of Troop Support Commander Army Brig. Gen. Landis C. Maddox.

Spouses received a letter of appreciation for their support over the years, which Lambert said was essential to the accomplishments of the individuals, and to DLA Troop Support as a whole.

“A great part of one’s successes can be attributed to their support system, and that includes your love and support of these retirees,” she said. “Our civilian workforce is also like a family. We come to work to serve the warfighters, but we grow to know the people we work with side-by-side almost as much as we know our families at home.”

Lambert concluded her remarks by thanking the retirees for their efforts over their careers with the organization.

“I am truly grateful, and I am not alone in my appreciation,” she said. “On behalf of myself, (Army) Brig. Gen. (Landis) Maddox, the Command staff, the workforce and service members around the world, I wish you all the best life has to offer during your retirement.”

Meagher retired from the Small Business office as a procurement analyst after 40 years of federal service.

Patkus retired as a lawyer from Troop Support’s Counsel office after 39 years.

David and Catherine Olson retired from the Construction and Equipment supply chain as a resolution specialist with nine and a purchasing agent with five years respectively.
