DLA Disposition Services' Kyong Kuk Yu works at the agency's property disposal site in Gimcheon, South Korea. He was recently named Employee of the Quarter for the first quarter of fiscal 2025.
Where is your hometown?
My hometown is Daegu, South Korea.
Tell us about your experience working with the U.S. government and DLA.
My first job as a government employee was a sales associate for AAFES Korea in 2016. In 2019, I started my career with DLA Distribution Korea located on Camp Carroll as a distribution process worker. In 2022, I transferred to DLA Disposition Services Gimcheon as a material examiner and identifier.
What do you do for DLA Disposition Services on a day-to-day basis?
My day to day consists of receiving customers’ disposed material they no longer need and process the material so it’s accounted for in our system. Once processed, material then can be reutilized by another organization, which I would then prepare and package for shipment.

How do you feel about your coworkers and your site?
My relationship with my coworkers are very important to me. All of them are very kind people, which is why I’m really happy to work here.
What do you enjoy about your job?
One of the things I enjoy about this job is the Reutilization, Transfer and Donation program because I get a chance to make an impact by providing the best service to our customers.
Would you like to say anything about being named as Employee of the Quarter?
I’m so thankful to be named Employee of the Quarter. Although, I wish I could share this honor with my coworkers because they’re all hardworking individuals.
