NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. –
Defense Logistics Agency Distribution, Bahrain, Southwest Asia, leadership recognized military, civilian, and Bahraini Grade employees for their outstanding performance and dedication during an all hands meeting at the site Jan. 23.
Navy Cmdr. John Olabode, commander, DLA Distribution, Bahrain, hosted the quarterly meeting to welcome new personnel, recognize employee performance, commemorate length of service, say farewell to outgoing personnel and celebrate recent staff birthdays.
Olabode recognized Army Sgt. Evelyn Aguayo, material handler, as the Military Employee of the Year 2024, Roderick Wissar, general supply specialist, as the General Schedule Employee of the Year 2024 and Mohammed Alaswad, facilities equipment support services specialist, as the Bahraini Grade Employee of the Year 2024. Also recognized were Derric Black, supervisory general supply specialist, as the General Schedule, 4th Quarter, and Mohammed Abdulhasan Alaswad, management analyst, as the Bahrain Grade Employee of the 4th Quarter. Each of the awardees received a letter of appreciation to commemorate their accomplishment.
Olabode also utilized the meeting to welcome the newest members of the DLA Distribution, Bahrain team. Sandra Colocho Garcia, supply system analyst, and Navy Petty Officer Second Class Robert Massena, material handler, recently assumed their positions at DLA Distribution, Bahrain. Olabode also farewelled Lance Powell, deputy commander, and Ligorio Dias, supply technician, Inventory Action Team.
Olabode concluded the meeting by celebrating the birthdays of personnel for the months of November, December and January.
DLA Distribution Bahrain maintains forward-positioned stock and provides multi-modal distribution to all branches of service operating in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility. Distribution Bahrain serves as the single Theater Distribution Platform within U.S. Central Command.
Located in Bahrain's capital city, Manama, the distribution center performs standard distribution operations to include receipt, store, ship, issue, inventory control, care of stock in storage, packaging, and preservation. Providing tailored distribution services through its Material Processing Center in Bahrain, the team performs core business functions on fleet requisitioned materiel such as receiving, customized sorting, temporary storage, customized delivery options, expedited shipment tracking, and freight forwarding functions.
Materiel in storage includes repair parts, component items, clothing, housekeeping supplies, packaged petroleum products, and construction materials. DLA Distribution, Bahrain also offers extensive mapping products and navigational aids for both land and maritime use.
