DLA Troop Support Celebrates February Retirees

By Maurice Matthews II

Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support held a civilian retirement ceremony in honor of Tyrone Lyles, a small business special programs liaison, and Anna White, Medical supply chain on February 27.

“Our civilian workforce is a family,” said DLA Troop Support Deputy Commander  Kishayra J. Lambert, who presided over the ceremony. “We come to work to serve the warfighter, but we grow to know the people we work with side-by-side almost as much as we know our families at home.”

Lyles began his federal career in February 1985 as an acquisition specialist. In 2010, he moved to the Small Business office.

“I had the greatest team in the world,” said Lyles. “My team, we are like a family, even the ones who have retired. I love them, and they hear that from me every day.”

During his retirement years, Lyles plans to continue his hobbies of bike riding, growing plants, enjoying time with his wife and experimenting in the kitchen.

White retires after 19 years of service.  During her career at DLA Troop Support, she was honored with many “Employee of the Month” awards and was afforded the opportunity to complete her master’s degree at Central Michigan University.

“I am thankful for my career,” said White. “In 2005 I started in the Medical supply chain and that’s where I finished. I learned so much and cherished all friendships.”

Upon her retirement, she plans to expand her real estate business, travel, keep up with her 92-year-old mother, her two grandchildren and do more line dancing.

“You know how people close a chapter in their life, then start a new chapter,” added Lyles. I’m going to start a new chapter but keep the previous one open.”

Lambert wished both retirees well in their next chapter.

“I am truly grateful, and I am not alone in my appreciation,” said Lambert. “On behalf of myself, Brigadier General Maddox and the entire workforce, I wish you all the best life has to offer during your retirement.”
