NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. –
The commander of Defense Logistics Agency’s regional command for U.S. Central Command and Special Operations Command visited DLA Distribution Bahrain Aug. 13-14.
Army Col. Edward Runyan, commander, DLA CENTCOM & SOCOM, visited DLA Distribution Bahrain to assess logistics development in the CENTCOM area of operations, synchronize efforts between the Defense Logistics Agency, Central Command units and partners and engage with key leaders.
During the visit, Runyan met with Navy Cmdr. Joshua Langhorne, commander, DLA Distribution Bahrain; Derrick Black, acting deputy commander, DLA Distribution Bahrain; and Reginold May, service provider site manager, DLA Distribution Bahrain. The group toured the DLA Distribution Bahrain facilities, reviewing warehouse operations and distribution processes.
On Aug. 14, Runyan hosted a town hall onboard Naval Support Activity Bahrain, attended by members of DLA Distribution Bahrain, DLA Energy Middle East, DLA Disposition Services, and DLA Troop Support. Runyan shared his background, including four deployments to the CENTCOM area of responsibility, three as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal officer and one with the 1st Theater Sustainment Command. He also spoke about his leadership philosophy, emphasizing hard work, discipline, teamwork, and prioritizing people while ensuring mission success.
"I believe in people first and mission always," Runyan said.
Runyan recognized two DLA Distribution Bahrain team members, Staff Sgt. Scott Price and Logistics Specialist 2nd Class Robert Massena, awarding them his personal Commander’s Coin of Excellence for their dedication and contributions.
