PHILADELPHIA –
“Celebrating employees who gave selflessly to this organization and the Warfighters around the world is one of the best perks of my job,” said DLA Troop Support Commander Army Brig. Gen. Sean P. Kelly. “Each retiree here represents the commitment and dedication we foster and celebrate here at DLA Troop Support.”
Lynne DeSanto wraps up 40 years of service most recently as a management analyst with the Chief of Staff / Command Support Office.
“My whole career I have worked here on the Northeast compound,” she said. “My journey has been long, and I want to thank everyone who helped along the way.”
In attendance supporting her was her spouse John, who is a retired DLA employee; her daughter, Gina; son, John; daughter-in-law, Anna; and grandson, Johnny. During the retirement years, she plans on not setting early alarm clocks and spending time with her grandson.
David Friedman concludes 37 years of service by retiring as a customer analyst with the J3/5 Operations and Plans office. His spouse, Mindy and daughter Marna sat by his side as he received his honors.
“Of the 37 years at Troop Support, it’s been the men and women around me that made me the person I am today,” he said. “It was the feeling of accomplishment, and my love for Troop Support and DLA.”
He plans to spend the retirement years doing home repairs and to sit back and relax.
Renee Fitchett retires after 24 years of service. Her most recent position was as a weapons systems support specialist in the J3/5 Operations and Plans Nuclear Enterprise Support office.
“This was a wonderful nine years here,” she said. “I’ve worked for Army, Navy, Air Force, and at Troop Support it is all connected with the services. I thank you all for what you put into my life and hope I am leaving parts of me here with you.”
To help commemorate her retirement were, her father David along with his wife Mae; her son Marvin; sister Deborah, and a host of nieces and nephews. In retirement, she plans to continue to travel, volunteer at her church, as well as spend time with her son and grandson.
Each retiree was presented with a certificate of retirement, a DLA retirement memento. Spouses received a letter of appreciation for their support over the years.
Kelly expressed his gratitude for the careers and legacies of the retirees.
“Please accept my most sincere gratitude for all you have done in service to our nation, the Defense Logistics Agency and most importantly, the men and women of the armed forces,” said Kelly.
