Troop Support commander hosts quarterly town hall

By Alison Welski DLA Troop Support Public Affairs

The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support’s commander highlighted recent workforce accomplishments and organizational readiness at a town hall event Dec. 4.

DLA Troop Support Commander Army Brig. Gen. Sean P. Kelly hosted the quarterly town hall meeting and recognized some of the organization’s recent milestones.

Kelly began the meeting by stating that he feels a sense of pride in his current role due to Troop Support’s commitment to the warfighter.

“This is the best job I’ve had in the Army, because of you all and your commitment every day in supporting warfighter readiness,” Kelly said. “I am so proud of it.”

Kelly also credited the workforce for record sales of over $25.7 billion.

“I don’t know how many of you have seen the record sales, but you should all be proud of yourselves,” Kelly said. “This is increasing warfighter readiness at its finest.”

Kelly described how current efforts across supply chains align with DLA Director Army Lt. Gen. Mark T. Simerly’s Annual Operating Plan. The AOP serves as Troop Support’s ‘North Star,’ meaning that it aligns supply chains’ efforts through potential transitions in posture across areas of responsibility, he said.

“[The Pentagon is] competing every single day,” Kelly said. “As we transition from competition to conflict—most of you in this room, if not all of you, have supported [conflict] before. Whether it was Operation Desert Storm, Operation Desert Shield, or [Operation Iraqi Freedom].”

Therefore, the transition to supporting the warfighter during conflict is Troop Support’s top priority, Kelly said.

“We have to ensure that we organize ourselves to be able to support and fit into whatever combatant command is a priority,” Kelly said. “As we come together to really help solve tough problems from the services in conflict, we’re going to optimize and develop.”

He also explained his personal appreciation of employees’ commitment and his plans to recognize individual excellence within Troop Support.

“I want to look for opportunities to say thank you and recognize our incredible employees,” Kelly said. “I have no shortage of pen. I have no shortage of coin.”

DLA Troop Support Deputy Commander, Mr. Christopher S. Mosher, also presented workforce expansion efforts that include hiring and onboarding more members to the DLA Pathways to Career Excellence Program.

“The [PACER program is] the foundation of our human capital strategy,” Mosher said. “We’re going to hire 240 PACERs.”
