PHILADELPHIA –
Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support held a civilian retirement ceremony on Feb. 12.
Mitchell-Riley started her career in 1983 as an inventory management specialist with the Defense Industrial Supply Center, a Troop Support legacy organization. She most recently served as commodity support liaison in the Construction and Equipment supply chain.
“Standing here today is very surreal,” said Mitchell-Riley. “For years, I’ve walked into DLA Troop Support with a to do list—ready to tackle whatever the day brings. Thank you for allowing me to see all 50 states, deploy to Korea, experience rainy days in London and work in a dynamic experience at DLA headquarters.”
DLA Troop Support Commander, U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Sean P Kelly presided over the ceremony.
“You’ve had a great impact on our readiness throughout various contingencies and efforts, from Operation Desert Storm, Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom, Ebola Support to West Africa and most recently to the COVID-19 pandemic,” Kelly said. “Because of that unwavering focus our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Guardians want for nothing – they are the best equipped fighting force in the world. And that’s not by accident – it’s because of dedicated selfless servants like you.”
While Kelly delivered his remarks, he thanked both her and her husband, Reginald.
“Please accept my most sincere gratitude for all you have done in service to our nation, the Defense Logistics Agency and most importantly, the men and women of the armed forces. On behalf of Troop Support and a grateful nation, I would like to thank you Reginald. Thank you for your silent sacrifice, thank you for the support to Cynthia’s distinguished career. It is truly appreciated.”
Upon retirement, Mitchell-Riley is preparing to enjoy life and travel.
“I’m leaving with a full heart, deep appreciation and lifelong respect for this organization and its people.”
