PHILADELPHIA –
Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support pharmacists were recognized for ensuring pharmaceutical supply chain security and facilitating collaboration across the federal government and defense medical industry, late January.
The Medical supply chain’s Customer Pharmacy Operations Center team received the
The 2025 Association of Military Surgeons—Sustaining Members’ Tip of The Spear Federal Leadership Award for excellence in dedication to interagency support of the Military Health System and Warfighter, said CPOC Chief Air Force Lt. Col. Josh Stallings.
AMSUS, also known as the Society for Federal Health Professionals, is an interagency forum including the Department of War, Veterans Affairs, Health and Human Services, and Homeland Security.
The CPOC team received notification of this award via letter from AMSUS Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, retired Army Brig. Gen. John Cho.
“CPOC's relentless commitment to partnership, adaptability, and mission assurance has not only fortified the defense pharmaceutical supply chain but also set the standard for interagency excellence in support of the Military Health System and the nation's Warfighters,” Cho wrote.
By promoting a network of executives dedicated to military medicine, AMSUS directly supports CPOC’s work, Stallings said.
“AMSUS has done so much for our work by creating a dialogue with the military medical industry and the Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs and U.S. Public Health Service,” Stallings said. “We really appreciate the opportunity to be recognized by such a great organization that partners government and industry to better provide optimal care to the warfighter.”
Stallings said the CPOC team supports the Medical supply chain internally, including supplier and customer-facing operations, and externally with the pharmaceutical industry and partner agencies.
“Our team does so much on a daily basis to support both our customers and to assist all of the great work done by the other teams in the Medical supply chain,” Stallings said. “We also work closely with the pharmaceutical industry to ensure mission-essential collaboration.”
This mission-essential work supporting warfighters is buoyed by strong teamwork and efficient collaboration, said Sooyun A. Kim, a CPOC civilian pharmacist.
“We have a very special team here and we truly appreciate each member who makes this team what it is,” Kim said. “At the end of the day, our success comes from people who care deeply about the mission and about each other.”
Strong teamwork is essential to the work CPOC does every day, Kim continued.
“A big part of our work is ensuring medications remain available even when normal supply channels are disrupted,” said Kim. “We can only do that if we communicate effectively and work internally as a team.”
The team expressed gratitude for the recognition and looks forward to continuing their important work.
“We thank the Society for recognizing this work,” Stallings said. “The team looks forward to further collaboration with our partners to ensure the security of the pharmaceutical supply chain while leaving no stone unturned when it comes to making sure our medical treatment facilities and warfighters have the medical capabilities needed.
