BATTLE CREEK, Mich. –
Defense Logistics Agency Vice Director Brad Bunn and Senior Enlisted Leader Army Command Sgt. Maj. Petra Casarez visited the Hart-Dole-Inouye Federal Center Feb. 27.
Bunn and Casarez traveled to Battle Creek after attending the “Data Acumen: Enhanced Readiness Through Data Drive Decision-Making” program at Ohio State University’s campus along with other DLA senior leaders.
The intent of the brief visit to DLA Disposition Services headquarters was to receive updates on the major subordinate command’s Annual Operating Plan and thank the workforce for their outstanding service supporting the warfighter.
Bunn began the session by thanking the entire DLA Disposition Services team and “coining” teammates Air Force Lt. Col. Michael Hinz, Rodney Re, and Suzanne Rohrs for their outstanding efforts.
Following the awards presentation, Bunn provided opening comments while praising the team.
“This is one of the mission areas for DLA that doesn’t often get the spotlight, and every time I talk to customers there is something that they bring up that invariably is an element of the disposition mission,” Bunn said.
The purpose of the AOP brief was for the vice director to conduct a mid-year review with the leadership team, evaluate updates to the AOP, and receive leadership perspectives on progress towards goals.
The AOP briefing agenda consisted of an Objectives and Key Results review, a Warehouse Management System Dashboard tutorial, Law Enforcement Support Office updates, a “Control Towers” logistics software discussion, and workforce survey assessments.
Following the two-hour session, Bunn reiterated the importance of DLA’s mission and acknowledged the MSC’s leadership and personnel for their dedication to the warfighter.
“I never worried for one minute whether Disposition Services would meet its core mission essential functions,” Bunn said.
The final stop on his visit was a community gathering of sorts as HDIFC senior leaders enjoyed a meal in the historic cafeteria that has hosted famous people such as Adrian Cronauer, Bob Hope, and Amelia Earhart.
