DLA Weapons Support marks leadership transition at Cherry Point

Weapons Support (Richmond) Public Affairs

Defense Logistics Agency Weapons Support held a Relinquishment of Charge ceremony April 30 at Millers Landing aboard Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point.

Air Force Brig. Gen. Patrick Launey, commander of DLA Weapons Support (Richmond), served as the presiding official for the event. The ceremony marked the formal departure of outgoing Navy Cmdr. Edwin Jimenez, Officer in Charge of DLA Weapons Support at Cherry Point, and the transfer of leadership responsibilities to Joshua Waller, who serves as the deputy director at Cherry Point.

The ceremony brought together the DLA Weapons Support team, mission partners and guests to recognize Jimenez for his leadership and service during his tenure.

“This ceremony reflects the strength of our partnership with the Cherry Point community and the dedication of the DLA Weapons Support team,” said Jimenez. “Together, we ensure the mission never misses a beat.”

Waller will serve as interim officer in charge until the arrival of the next OIC, who is set to assume command in June.

“Transitions in leadership are moments that remind us of the strength of our mission and the dedication of the people who carry it forward,” Waller said. “We honor Cmdr. Jimenez’s steadfast service and remain fully committed to sustaining the excellence our warfighters expect and deserve.”

Officials said coordination and support from the local installation community helped ensure the successful execution of the ceremony and seamless leadership transition.
