NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. –
Defense Logistics Agency Distribution hosted DLA Vice Director Brad Bunn and other members of the agency's headquarters staff for an update on the command’s Annual Operating Plan, a tour of the Eastern Distribution Center and to recognize outstanding employees.
Army Brig. Gen. Kevin Cotman, commanding general, and Joe Faris, acting deputy commander, DLA Distribution, set the stage for the discussion by emphasizing the command's immediate priorities, which include stabilizing the Warehouse Management System, maintaining audit readiness and driving digital transformation initiatives.
“At the end of the day, we are focused on how to get the critical repair parts out the door and in the hands of the warfighter,” Cotman said. “We provide readiness to the joint force through our global storage and distribution network, and the candid conversations we are going to have today will help us execute the mission that our leaders and nation are asking of us.”
During the briefing, DLA Distribution leaders provided a broad overview of the command's strategic goals, ongoing operational milestones, and support to current operations, efforts that each of the command's 24 global distribution centers has actively supported.
The discussion also centered on several critical focus areas: delivering a stable WMS that resolves prioritized incidents and system change requests; continuing to drive intra-agency collaboration to achieve audit success; executing a capability-based transition to a logistics control tower; and completing all WMS functional requirements necessary to sunset the legacy Distribution Standard System.
Bunn thanked the team for the comprehensive update, emphasizing that modernization efforts succeed only when paired with a dedicated workforce. During the visit, Bunn recognized three DLA Distribution employees for their outstanding contributions and professional excellence: Keith Nunn, acting director of DLA Distribution Plans, Training and Modernization; Meg Ross, DLA Distribution acquisition director; and Aaron Booth, deputy director of DLA Distribution Compliance and Audit.
Before walking the floor at the EDC, Bunn met with the DLA Distribution Susquehanna Task Force to hear about their progress. The task force brings together representatives from across the enterprise, including DLA Distribution, DLA Information Operations and other DLA major subordinate commands as necessary, to coordinate cross-functional solutions.
“It's the people that are out on the floor of the EDC and the other locations across the world that are doing the vital work of this great major subordinate command and this great agency,” Bunn said. “The discussions that we are having in this room are critical, and I’m glad we were able to have them.”
