DLA Distribution Corpus Christi welcomes new commander

United States Army Lt. Col. Brian K. Richie assumed command of Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Corpus Christi, Texas, in a ceremony June 11.  The ceremony was officiated by DLA Distribution commander Army Brig. Gen. Richard Dix.

“I have confidence that Lieutenant Colonel Richie will continue to build this great organization and lead it into the future,” said Dix.

Richie was born and raised in Raphine, Va.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Virginia Military Institute.

His assignments include platoon leader and executive officer, 603rd Transportation Company, Fort Polk, La., and Operation Joint Guard, Bosnia-Herzegovina; Battalion S4, 142nd Corps Support Battalion, Fort Polk, La.; plans officer and detachment commander, 599th Transportation Group, Wheeler Army Airfield, Hawaii; company commander, 545th Harbormaster, Ford Island, Hawaii; strategic movements officer and prime ministers situation room liaison officer, MNF-I, Operation Iraqi Freedom; Joint Operation Planning and Execution System, plans officer, 8th US Army, Yongsan, Korea; transformation plans officer, 19th ESC, Daegu, Korea; executive officer, 837th Transportation Battalion, Busan, Korea; and headquarters commandant for Special Operations Command Central, MacDill AFB, Fla.

His most recent assignment was support operations officer with the 501st Sustainment Brigade.

Richie’s military schooling includes the Transportation Officer Basic Course; Combined Logistics Officer Advance Course; Combined Arms and Services Staff School; Strategic Deployment Planning Course; JOPES Support Personnel Course; JOPES Action Officers Course; the Support Operations Course; the Joint Planning Course; Intermediate Level Education; and Airborne School.  He also served in the Army’s Training with Industry program at CSX Transportation.

Richie’s awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters; the Joint Service Commendation Medal; the Army Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters; the Army Achievement Medal with four oak leaf clusters; the Navy Achievement Medal; National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Korean Defense Service Medal; Armed Forces Service Medal; and NATO Medal.
