Bahrain native sees green at DLA records management training

By Brianne M. Bender DLA Distribution Public Affairs

Shaima Haji, Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Bahrain, started her career as a librarian for the Navy in 2012. In March, 2013 Haji transferred to DLA to take on the role of command records management coordinator.

Recently, Haji traveled to the U.S. for the first time to attend training provided for records coordinators at DLA Distribution Susquehanna, Pa.  This training provided the records management coordinators with the opportunity to get to know one another.  The DLA program provides guidance for agency personnel who create, maintain, store, use, and dispose of records. As DLA continues to focus on efficiency, the objective of the training was to achieve an uninterrupted flow of information within the DLA network. Haji found the experience to be invaluable, as well as inspiring.

“I was excited to come here to New Cumberland, to see where DLA Distribution starts,” said Haji. “Though I have traveled many places, this is the first time I have been in the United States, and the first time I saw spring and green trees. The weather is nice,” she continued.

Additionally, Haji found the training to be very helpful, providing her information she could take back to Bahrain and use to advance her career. She will be applying for her master’s program to further develop her knowledge.  Haji looks forward to more training and video teleconferencing opportunities in the future.
