Jacksonville distribution center welcomes new deputy commander

Charles Crumb has been selected as the new deputy commander of Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Jacksonville, Fla.

The distribution center supports a wide variety of customers from the Department of Defense and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration to the U.S. Custom Service. DLA Distribution Jacksonville's customer base includes Naval Air Station Jacksonville and Naval Station Mayport as well as operational and deployed Navy and Marine Corps forces worldwide.

Crumb enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1993, where he spent three years as a combat engineer.  He served overseas with the 40th Engineer Battalion in Baumholder, Germany. He then deployed as a Demolitions Team lead to Bosnia with 1st Armor Division, 2nd Brigade to support the Implementation Force that comprised of a NATO-led multinational peace enforcement force, Operation Joint Endeavour.

Beginning his career with DLA as warehouseman at DLA Distribution Europe, Crumb later held various management positions at DLA Distribution Norfolk, Va., finally being selected as distribution facilities manager at DLA Distribution Europe.

Crumb has received many letters of commendation and is the recipient of numerous civilian and military awards, including the DLA Meritorious Civilian Service Award,  DLA Performance Award for Sustained Superior Performance, two Army Achievement Medals, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with one bronze star, Armed forces Service Medal, and NATO Medal.
