Defense Supply Center Columbus held its annual Shred Day April 20 on the installation. Associates were encouraged to bring anything they wanted shredded, including personal and work documents. DSCC’s Environmental Division chief, Forrest (Chip) Williams II, said they processed 7.56 Tons of paper, which translates to:
• 129 Trees Saved
• 52,920 Gallons of Water Saved
• 30,996 Kw of Energy Saved
• 454 Pounds of Pollutants kept from Atmosphere
• 38 Cubic Yards of landfill saved
“This not only helps the environment but contributes to the increase of our Solid Waste Diversion rate!” Williams said.
Participation increased by 89% from last September’s Shred Day
