DLA Installation Support at Richmond takes receipt of its newest static display

By Cathy Hopkins DLA Aviation Public Affairs

Defense Logistics Agency Installation Support at Richmond, Virginia, personnel maneuvered the installation’s newest static display, an F-100 Engine, off the truck and into the Frank B. Lotts Conference Center on Defense Supply Center Richmond, May 4.

The delivery of the new static display is the culmination of a three-year project. “It’s nice to have this completed and in place. It wasn’t easy getting it in the Lotts Center, so I appreciate the team’s hard work and support getting this through the construction area,” said David Gibson, site director, DLA Installation Support at Richmond.

Air Force Brig. Gen. Mark Johnson, commander, Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex, Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, initiated a request for the display back in 2014 when he was the DLA Aviation commander.  As the OK-ALC commander, he was influential in finalizing the effort.

Air Force Capt. Robbie Walsh, from the OC-ALC, traveled from Oklahoma with volunteers from Oklahoma City’s ALC Expeditionary Depot Maintenance Team and 76th Commodities Maintenance Group, who were instrumental in the process to prepare the engine cutaway static display, to construct the display stand, to mount the engine, and to bring it to Richmond.

DSCR is the home of DLA Aviation. As DLA’s aviation supply and demand manager, DLA Aviation manages more than 18,000 national stock numbers and supports over 75, 000 annual requisitions for parts to support the F-100 engine which powers both the F-15 Eagle and F-16 Flying Falcon fighter aircraft.
