DLA’s Army Reserve Element receives new commander

By Air Force Master Sgt. Scott Mathews DLA Joint Reserve Force Public Affairs

In a May 15 ceremony at the McNamara Headquarters Complex at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, Army Col. Ronnie Davis took command of the Defense Logistics Agency’s Army Reserve Element, replacing Army Col. Ralph S. Roper.

Davis was commissioned as a distinguished military graduate from Norfolk State University and has a degree in political science with a concentration in law. Before taking command, he served as DLA Distribution’s Army Reserve Element team leader.

“Since Col. Davis is already serving with DLA Distribution, I fully expect him to hit the ground running,” said Robert McCullough, deputy director of the DLA JRF. “He has an impressive background and will bring a level of leadership to the Command that will ensure the current high standards of readiness are maintained.”

During the ceremony, Davis thanked his family, friends, and current and former coworkers. He said he is ready to take on the task of leading those in the ARE.

Army Brig Gen. Charles Hamilton, DLA Troop Support commander, presided over the event.

“Col. Roper has been a great asset to the DLA Joint Reserve Force,” said McCullough. “All Reservists, regardless of their service, have benefited from his time spent at DLA. He will be greatly missed.”

The Army Reserve Element was established in 1999 to provide reserve support to DLA in its mission of combat logistics support to the warfighter. The soldiers of this group are assigned all across the world.
