COLUMBUS, Ohio –
Four students from Eastmoor Academy High School recently completed their four month long internships for the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime Workforce Development High School Intern Program.
During their interactions with Land and Maritime associates they received some on-the-job experience about how many professionals are required to ensure a large logistics operation like DLA runs. Each intern was assigned a mentor to help them navigate the 120 hours spent shadowing different work areas within directorates.
“Through the DLA Land and Maritime Student Intern Program we are able to support our local community by working with local high school students,” said Dr. Robert Boggs, deputy director of the People and Culture directorate. “The success of the program is due in large part to the volunteers who have mentored, supported and encouraged our students throughout the program.”
After a detailed program orientation Terrionna Bryan, Chaz Caldwell, Isaiah Eaton and Rayven Hodge tackled a packed training plan that included learning leadership skills, writing, professionalism in the workplace and an in-depth tour of Land and Maritime’s Product Test Lab. Additional training was provided by the Leadership Development Association.
