SEOUL, Korea –
Defense Logistics Agency Energy Pacific at Korea’s leadership changed hands when Army Lt. Col. Wheeler Manning relinquished command to Army Lt. Col. Faith Chamberlain in Seoul, Korea, June 28.
DLA Energy Pacific Commander Navy Capt. Timothy Daniels hosted and presided over the ceremony.
Manning served as the DLA Energy Pacific at Korea commander since July 2014. In his next assignment at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, Manning will serve at Army Materiel Command Headquarters.
“I am truly humbled and thankful to serve with a great unit like DLA Energy Pacific at Korea,” Manning said. “The narrator mentioned this was a celebration of accomplishments, but I will tell you this is a true testament to the hard work, long hours and extreme dedication of the DLA Energy Pacific at Korea workforce.”
In his keynote remarks, Daniels praised Manning for his professionalism and leadership.
“Lt. Col. Manning’s reputation is one of an outstanding leader, professional, and a mentor,” Daniels said. “He is leaving an indelible matter of record, at the helm of the high-performing team truly unmatched in their accomplishments, given their relatively small size yet tactical to strategic impacts of their day-to-day business and the sheer level of responsibility.”
In the time-honored military tradition, the outgoing commander passed the DLA Energy Pacific at Korea colors to Daniels, who then passed them to Chamberlain. The military ceremony dates back to our nation’s earliest history and signifies the orderly transfer of responsibility, authority and accountability from one individual to another.
Upon accepting command, Chamberlain remarked, “I am incredibly honored and humbled to assume this command today … I intend to continue the DLA tradition of excellence –excellence in providing service first and foremost to the warfighters, our brethren in arms who remain ready to ‘fight tonight’ in defense of our strong and important ROK and U.S. alliance.”
Daniels welcomed Chamberlain and her family and said he was fortunate to have such a tremendous professional with an exceptionally strong and diverse logistics background joining the team. Chamberlain previously served as the senior military advisor to the Department of State’s Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration in Washington, D.C.
