Employees, commander surprise supervisors with leadership award

By Michael Tuttle DLA Troop Support Public Affairs

Several supervisors at Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support were pleasantly caught off guard by the actions of their employees Sept. 28.

These supervisors earned positive leadership awards after being nominated by their employees: Dr. Greg Gsell, Business Process Support Randall Owens, Medical supply chain; and Mary Martin, Medical.

DLA Troop Support Commander Army Brig. Gen. Charles Hamilton recognized each during separate presentations in front of colleagues and the employees who recommended them for the awards.

Below are the positive leadership awardees and a portion of what their employees had to say about them:

Dr. Greg Gsell, Business Process Support, chief of the technical and quality division

His significant contributions to the Business Process Support Directorate have been demonstrated daily via high level continued understanding, support and guidance regarding work performance; his focus is directed on the quality and work ethics of his subordinates, in which he has consistency led by example.

He is a dedicated and committed problem solver for the QA branch and works tirelessly in an exemplary manner. He is patient, supportive and respectful of all concerns, questions and is equally considerate of all recommendations submitted by his employees.

Mary Regina Martin, Medical Materiel Executive Agent Office

On Martin’s leadership: Flexible and creative; encourages innovative thinking, solving problems by both exposing you to new ideas and matching it with unbridled enthusiasm and a keen sense of humor.

On her work ethic and attitude: Unblemished integrity, consistently a proponent of being honest, a person of her word, conducting duties with honor and diligence, and doing what’s best for the warfighter.

Randall Owens, Medical supply chain, operational customer facing division

Randy is committed to excellence; his trust in his employees allow all of us to feel empowered in our jobs and gives us all a real sense of ownership on a daily basis.

Randy truly goes out of his way to help his employees when it is needed, his great character, “Can Do Attitude,” respectfulness and dependability truly emit throughout the organization and make a huge and positive impact within our office environment.
