Aviation employees recognized for excellence

Maurice Sanabria and Lee Scott were honored during the 51st Annual Employee Recognition Awards ceremony held in the Andrew T. McNamara Complex auditorium at Defense Logistics Agency Headquarters, Fort Belvoir, Virginia, Dec. 13, 2018. 

Sanabria is the chief of the Command Programs Branch in the Command Support Directorate of DLA Aviation Richmond. The award presented to him stated he distinguished himself for outstanding achievement in support of equal employment opportunity by demonstrating support to Equal Employment Opportunity programs through selfless and continued participation in DLA Aviation’s EEO Special Emphasis Program Committee. He is an advocate for diversity and inclusion and has successfully championed EEO initiatives by leading the development and execution of special observance events and workshops; allocating resources and staff to support EEO programs; and assisting staff and other members of the workforce in the development of new skills and competencies.

Scott, engineering technician, Engineering Services Branch, Installation Management Division, DLA Installation Operations Richmond, was recognized as a top 10 employee enterprise wide for his willingness to lead the 13-employee Engineering Services Branch during his supervisor’s extended absence. His award stated as acting branch chief, he oversaw the timely and effective execution of over 100 Sustainment Restoration and Modernization and Defense Working Capital Funds projects valued at more than $92 million. He proactively responded to over 75 data calls and requests for information, achieving an amazing 96 percent on-time rate, and facilitated weekly briefings to the site director, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, DLA Aviation customers and tenant organizations. 

DLA Director Army Lt. Gen. Darrell Williams presented the awards during the ceremony.
