NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. –
In a traditional Navy ceremony, command of Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Sigonella, Italy, was formally transferred from Navy Capt. (sel) Vincent Erno to Navy Cmdr. Eugene Dawson on May 27.
Capt. (sel) Erno was awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal for his exemplary leadership across three different distribution centers spaced across three different countries. During this time, and through the multitude of supported commands, DDSI led all of DLA Distribution with 100 percent accuracy of inventories.
Capt. (sel) Erno was relieved by Cmdr. Dawson.
Cmdr. Dawson earned his commission in 2002 through the Officer Candidate School program after graduating from LeTourneau University, Long View, Texas, with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 2001. He earned a Masters of Business Administration from Naval Post Graduate School in 2009 with a focus in Resource and Financial Management, and a Masters of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from Naval War College in 2013. He is a graduate of the Joint Forces Staff College, a Certified Knowledge Manager and a Lean Six Sigma Black belt.
His operational assignments include Supply Officer, USS Jefferson City and USS Chafee. He deployed as a global support assignment, individual augmentee in 2009 to the Base Command Group at Al Asad Air Base, Iraq, as a requirements officer supporting Global War on Terror operations.
His shore assignments include the selection as the first supply officer for the Littoral Combat Ship Squadron, San Diego, California and Joint Logistics Planner at U.S. Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base. He served as the Director for Common Hull Mechanical and Electrical Integrated Weapon Support Team and the Director of Cruisers and Destroyers IWST at Naval Supply Systems Command WSS, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.
He recently served as the material budget officer at NAVSUP Headquarters in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.
