Describe your job in a sentence or two.

I manage DEMIL, RTD and sales programs, facility operations, material handling equipment and the welfare of my team.

What is your area of responsibility?

Northern California and northern Nevada.

How long have you worked for the federal government, including military service?

I’ve worked in the federal government for 38 years.

How long have you worked for DLA Disposition Services?

I’ve worked with DLA Disposition Services for 26 years.

What is your favorite thing about your line of work?

The variety of jobs and work locations available if you’re willing to relocate.

What is the best piece of advice someone has given you?

Trust your team.

What is your favorite memory with DLA Disposition Services?

Establishing the DLA Disposition Services site at Al Asad, Iraq, from January to July 2005.

What is one characteristic that you believe every leader should possess?

To not assign tasks that you aren’t willing to do yourself.

What are your best practices for achieving goals or accomplishing tasks?

My leadership philosophy is to expect the best possible outcome but prepare for the worst; remain flexible and resilient.

What keeps you motivated?

That would be my wife. I wouldn’t be where I am today if she didn’t keep pushing me.

What are your best practices for achieving goals or accomplishing tasks?

My biggest accomplishment would be that I’ve relocated numerous times throughout my career without breaking up my family. If given the opportunity, I would like to have deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan a couple more times. I’ve been deployed to Iraq twice and Afghanistan twice. I really enjoyed working with different people from different sites because it broadens your learning experiences.

What was your first job with DLA?

My first job with DLA was as a wage grade supervisor. I managed scrap operations in Guam back in 1996.

What are your hobbies?

Golf and home improvement projects.
