Port Hueneme’s Valle named Employee of the Quarter

By Brianne M. Bender DLA Distribution Public Affairs

Celia Valle, material packer at DLA Distribution San Diego, Calif., at Port Hueneme, has been named Employee of the Quarter for the second quarter of fiscal year 2015.

“Ms. Valle’s vast knowledge of DOD and commercial protocol has contributed to DLA Distribution’s ability to formulate a recipe for success without degrading the service provided to the customer,” said warehouse operations officer Edward Goode.

As part of the organization’s Packing, Packaging, Preservation and Marking team, Valle assisted with packing miscellaneous cargo and sustainment items in support of the National Science Foundation’s Antarctic research mission. She contributed to the packaging of more than 2,700 line items of general and hazardous cargo, manufacturing over 600 custom pallets and wooden containers, and constructing nearly 870 fiberboard boxes for surface and air shipments in order to ensure that transported items were adequately protected from damage during transport.

She also ensured contracted service providers were indoctrinated with customer-specific processes in order to ensure continuity of business processes.  According to Goode, Valle continues to maintain open lines of communication with the customer in order to increase organizational performance and accountability.  For example, she coordinated the delivery of receipted cargo to the packing line in order to ensure we are operating efficiently and effectively.

“Ms. Valle is an extraordinary employee who continually demonstrates sustained superior performance, often providing results that surpass all expectations,” said Goode. “Her integrity, values, and proven commitment to our mission, the customer, and PPP&M excellence are just a few reasons why Ms. Valle is a valued and respected member of our PPP&M team.”
