FORT BELVOIR, Virginia –
Defense Logistics Agency employees, retirees and military dependents can now easily schedule common access card and identification card appointments at select DLA locations using an online system managed by the Defense Manpower Data Center.
Six Department of Defense Pass and ID offices at DLA hosted locations are now listed in the Real-Time Automated Personnel Identification System scheduler. Pass/ID locations include Columbus, Ohio; Richmond, Virginia; New Cumberland, Pennsylvania; San Joaquin, California; Battle Creek, Michigan; and the McNamara Headquarters Complex at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
The inclusion of DLA hosted sites into the web-based scheduler is part of an initiative to improve customer wait times, said Jose Gonzalez, a physical security specialist for DLA Installation Support’s Security and Emergency Services.
“The system does not exclude walk-ins, because those are always welcome, but employees should know that those with appointments have priority,” he said. “So to make it easier on yourself, make an appointment. And this is not just for our customers in DLA, but also for our customers in surrounding communities, retirees, etc., because this is accessible to everyone, from any computer.”
Users can select sites by state, name, zip code or by country. Once a site is selected, users pick dates from the online appointment calendar. Dates in green indicate the site has available appointment times. In addition, each site usually has a list of its hours of operations, contact information and what documents are needed to obtain a new card, Gonzalez said.
“There’s a lot of information you’ll get right on the site page before you even make your appointment,” he said. “And users can make an appointment at any site that’s listed, not just ours.”
Once an appointment time is selected, users select their personnel status, branch of service and enter their email address. Shortly thereafter, users will receive a confirmation email that they should bring to their appointment, Gonzalez said.
