DLA Distribution hosts Child Development Center to light up the holidays

By Jessica Roman DLA Distribution Public Affairs

A yearly tradition at Defense Logistics Agency Distribution continued on Dec. 2, as employees gathered alongside children from Defense Distribution Center, Susquehanna’s Child Development Center to light the holiday tree and sing songs celebrating the season.

DLA Distribution commander Army Brig. Gen. Richard Dix was on-hand to welcome the children, and talk about their upcoming plans for the holiday season.

Each child got a chance to tell Dix what they were hoping Santa would bring them this year, with skateboards, Zoomer toys, and Captain America toys making the top of the children’s lists.

Dix next had the children count down from three, and all watched for the tree lights to magically turn on.

With the tree lit, the audience was serenaded with holiday songs from the children, including “Jingle Bell Rock” and “Up on the House Top.”

Concluding the long-standing event, the adults sang “Deck the Halls,” while the children decorated the tree with candy canes and handmade ornaments.
