BAHRAIN, March 3, 2016 —
Defense Logistics Agency Senior Enlisted Leader Army Command Sgt. Maj. Charles Tobin made a quick stop in Bahrain from Feb. 21 to Feb. 22 during his multi-country visit within the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.
The visit was part of Tobin’s global battlefield circulation plan. While in Bahrain, he met and interacted with DLA Distribution, DLA Disposition Services and DLA Energy Middle East personnel. As the eyes and ears of the agency’s director, Tobin was able to listen to employees, as well as convey the director’s priorities, initiatives, strategic direction and message of thanks.
“It was great to see the DLA senior enlisted leader visit Bahrain for the first time and connect with the workforce on an individual basis,” said Army Capt. Thorin Parris, DLA Energy Middle East Customer Operations petroleum operations officer. “He listened to what [employees] had to say about the mission and the organization and reminded us of the critical role each member of DLA plays in the warfighters’ successful prosecution of their diverse and respective missions.”
During his visit, Tobin toured a DLA Distribution warehouse and recognized two employees for their contributions to accomplishing the mission, and took the opportunity to speak to the group about the importance of the DLA Distribution mission. He then visited the DLA Disposition Services warehouse where he met Nick Lulay, who runs the Disposition Services operations in Bahrain singlehandedly since his arrival last year. Tobin presented Lulay with a coin for his efforts and ingenuity in utilizing the Army Watercraft Program to ship critical items to Kuwait.
Tobin also visited the DLA Energy Middle East operations and met with Supplier Operations, Quality Assurance, Customer Operations and staff support personnel and received a command overview brief.
“It was definitely nice to hear from the command sergeant major and to have him recognize the value of work we do here at DLA Energy Middle East in support the warfighter and towards mission accomplishment,” said Navy Lt. Michael Navarro, DLA Energy Middle East Customer Operations petroleum operations officer.
