YOKOSUKA, Japan, April 12, 2016 —
Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Yokosuka, Japan’s, Storage Division has been awarded the Team of the Quarter award for their consistent work with process improvements with regard to distribution processes and inventory integrity.
This 81-person team is comprised of multi-national team members that include members from the U.S. military, U.S. Civil Service, and Japanese National employees. Their varied high levels of skill engendered a 24 hour operational schedule managing the receipt, storage, issue, and COSIS of over 36,000 pre-positioned materials, contributing to the operational readiness of the organization in supporting the warfighter.
The Storage Division proficiently processed the elaborate packing and handling of temperature sensitive pharmaceutical products for trans-shipment in the Pacific area of operations. They expedited the processing of over 18,000 vials of Japanese encephalitis vaccine in support of military hospitals and clinics across the Pacific and Fifth Fleet area of responsibility. Additionally, this division also processed the transshipment of over 1,000 doses of the influenza virus vaccine in support of the U.S. Navy-wide mandated flu vaccination program. Both shipments combined were valued well over 3.5 million.
In best efforts to support the warfighters, the Storage Division responded to the Navy’s logistics requirements to support the weapons system modernization upgrades assisting kitting of over 6,000 line items for both the USS JOHN S. MCCAIN and the USS BLUE RIDGE.
