NEW CUMBERLAND, Pennsylvania, April 13, 2016 —
Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Susquehanna’s, Shipment Planning Team has been awarded the Team of the Quarter award for outstanding customer support and stewardship of resources.
The shipment planning team continuously excels in demonstrating great dedication in the performance of duties. The team is responsible for various operations to include container booking, oversight of the dedicated truck program and ensuring prompt and accurate payment of transportation bills.
During the first quarter, the Shipment Planning Team worked directly with Surface Deployment Distribution Command and DLA Distribution in the development and implementation of procedures to process the diplomatic notes required for containers destined to Iraq. Their work highlighted an enterprise-wide customs issue and the team was integral in developing a resolution to ensure expedient transit of cargo to US Forces in Iraq. In best efforts to show continuous cost savings across the dedicated truck program, the Shipment Planning Team rendered a cost savings of $1.9 million.
In preparation of the audit for the order to cash business cycle, the Shipment Planning Team spent countless hours addressing evidential matter concerns with J4/J3 AR/PS Teams. Many of their proposed changes were implemented across DLA and will save thousands of dollars enterprise- wide in terms of supplies used and hours worked.
“The shipment planning team continuously meets unexpected challenges through the course of their workday, yet they maintain a high level of motivation and second- to- none quality,” said Michelle McClure, Chief, Shipment Planning Branch.
