Defense Supply Center Columbus Eagle Eye Golf Course has received the Monarchs in the Rough habitat designation
The Defense Supply Center Columbus Eagle Eye Golf Course has received the Monarchs in the Rough habitat designation from Audubon International. The program aims to create habitat for the Monarch butterfly and other pollinators in rough or out-of-play areas on golf courses nationwide. DSCC Environmental Division Chief Nicole Goicochea worked with DSCC Morale Welfare and Recreation to naturalize the rough areas of the course several years ago. Milkweed supplied by Audubon was planted in the spring of this year. The program is already a success with many of those plants seeing use from many Monarch caterpillars and adults already this season.
