Mr. Eric J. Mata is the Director of DLA Strategic Materials at the Defense Logistics Agency in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. In this capacity, he oversees the Department of Defense organization entrusted with the management of the National Defense Stockpile. His leadership is pivotal in executing the mission to mitigate U.S. reliance on foreign or single sources of strategic and critical materials essential for national security during emergencies.
Mr. Mata's career with the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) began in 2009, with him serving in various financial management positions in support of the DLA Energy mission. His proven expertise and leadership led to his appointment as Deputy Director of DLA Strategic Materials in October 2016, and subsequently, he was promoted to Director in February 2022.
Prior to his distinguished career as a federal civil servant, Mr. Mata served in the United States Marine Corps, where he supported U.S. diplomatic missions abroad.
While serving abroad Mr. Mata earner his Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. He also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from DeVry University.
